Krista Pulfer she/her

B.A., R.S.S.W.,  Psychotherapist

Registered Social worker/ Psychotherapist

With over twenty years of experience in human and social services, Krista brings a wealth of clinical skill, insight, and lived experience to her therapy practice. Using her grounded, compassionate presence, Krista offers a direct, transparent, and empathetic approach to her work.  Krista supports individuals, couples, and families navigating a wide range of challenges, including parenting and caregiving stress, compassion fatigue, relationship and family issues, adoption-related experiences, pre- and post-natal challenges, adverse childhood experiences, interpersonal communication difficulties, life changes, work or family-related burnout, and grief and loss. Krista’s diverse background allows her to connect with clients from ‘all walks of life’ with empathy, clarity, and a grounded, nonjudgmental presence. A deep appreciation for human resilience, interdependence, and the importance of connection informs her clinical work and therapeutic philosophy.

When Krista is not in work mode, she is chasing sunshine and squeezing joy out of the little things – like a quiet moment with a cozy blanket and a good book, a backyard project that somehow turned into a full-blown landscaping saga, or a yoga session that leaves her smiling. She is all about good food, loud laughter, and quality time with her favourite people – including her kids, who keep her humble, entertained, and occasionally decorated in snack crumbs and inexplicable glitter.  Krista tries to bring energy, heart, and a healthy dose of fun to everything she does.

Krista offers Individual, Couples, and Family Therapy.

Background

Krista is registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She has provided evidenced-based and trauma-informed therapy services to individuals, couples, and families for over twenty years. Krista also comes to her work with significant experience in facilitating group therapy for youth, young adults, and women. Through her longstanding work experience with the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa and her role as the elected president of her union, Krista brings a deep commitment to supporting the social and emotional needs of youth and their families, along with a strong foundation in leadership, advocacy, communication, and navigating complex systems. Her union experience has further deepened her understanding of workplace dynamics and strengthened her ability to support clients facing interpersonal, organizational, and conflict-related challenges. Krista is also Structured Analysis Family Evaluation (SAFE) Certified, which enhances her therapeutic practice through advanced assessment skills, trauma-informed insight, and a systemic understanding of family functioning. These qualities, combined with her many years of experience working with diverse populations and her continued connection to community services in Ottawa, make Krista a particular asset to the private practice setting.  To add to her formal education and certifications in therapy, social work and the social sciences, Krista is currently engaging in an EMDR certification training and Somatic Therapy training. Krista looks forward to adding these techniques into her future practice offerings through Westboro Psychology.
